RIGHT OF THE WEEK

Article 3 (best interests of the child)

The best interests of the child must be a top priority in all decisions and actions that affect children.

Adults should think about the best interests of children and young people when making choices that affect them. This means that:

  • Adults who know individual children and young people (such as their parents, guardians or teachers) should think about their best interests when they make decisions
  • Adults in positions of power (such as those who work in the Government or in courts of law) should think about the best interests of all children and young people in their jurisdiction when making laws.(https://www.cypcs.org.uk/rights/uncrcarticles/article-3)

All year the staff at Bridge of Don Academy have been thinking about the best interests of the pupils and preparing them for exams or assessments. Hopefully all this hard work will pay off in the next few weeks and no one will feel like Mr Bean in the exam room!! Good luck to everyone.

Right of the Week

Article 6 (life, survival and development)

Every child has the right to life. Governments must do all they can to ensure that children survive and develop to their full potential.

“Nature not only provides us with all the things we need to live – from the air we breathe to the water we drink, and from the shelter we need to the economy we rely on – but also makes our lives better. However, its growing loss puts this all under threat.

This Earth Hour, join millions around the world to turn off the lights and speak up about why nature matters.”  #Connect2Earth

If we don’t take care of our planet then there are children around the world who will not have right 6 met. Earth Hour 2019 is on 30 March 2019 8:30 – 9:30pm. You can show your support by switching off your lights for the hour.
