Ewen Lindsay in 3F was awarded a £50 Amazon voucher by Bridge of Don Community Council for winning their council logo competition. The council approached BODA directly to ask for our talented pupils to come up with a new design to be launched in both digital online format and in print. We were thrilled to give a live project to pupils and to be involved in a project that would directly impact the local community.
On Wednesday 27th June Bridge of Don Academy hosted its first ever Summer Festival which incorporated sports day events along with inter-house competitions.
The event began after break and saw the whole school organised in their houses outside of the field before it was launched by Olympic curler and BBC Commentator Jackie Lockhart. Following this pupils were able to take part in a wide range of practical activities ranging from a climbing wall to zumba, volleyball to velcrowall and mountain biking to bungee run. Sports finalists for S1-S4 were also crowned in the 100m, 200m, shot putt and high jump.
Bridge of Don Academy and Active Schools have been selected to receive funding from the UK sustainable transport charity, Sustrans as well as an additional £1,500 from the Youth Activities Small Grants Fund.
The money received has allowed the school to invest in 10 new bike lockers and cycle stands as well and 28 new scooters. On top of this, 40 helmets were purchased through the Cycle Scotland Cycle Friendly School Award.
