English Literature & Linguistics/Modern Languages webinar, ‘How Can Studying Linguistics Help Your Language Learning?’ Wednesday 16th March, 2-3pm

In this interactive online session Dr Angela Gayton, Lecturer in Applied Linguistics and Education (English Language & Linguistics), will look at how we communicate through language and will answer questions such as:

  1. How and why do languages change over time?
  2. How do we create meaning through the sounds that we make?
  3. How is the way we speak linked to who we are?

By exploring questions like these, students will gain an understanding of what we mean by linguistics, and how knowing about linguistics can help us to overcome some of the challenges we face when we learn other languages. This session will include a presentation followed by a Q&A.
