Countdown to a #FairtradeChristmas – Day 9

Countdown to a #FairtradeChristmas – Day 9

Who are you?: Alison Anderson, coffee addict and Granny to Mini Master chef James who used lots of Fairtrade ingredients to bake some delicious cupcakes.

What is your Fairtrade item?: Co-op Irresistible Fairtrade coffee pods.

Why?: I love my Nespresso coffee machine! Now the clever Co-op has produced Nespresso-compatible Fairtrade coffee pods so it’s really handy being able to buy them off the shelf from my local Co-op. I savour that all-important morning caffeine fix safe in the knowledge that the the pods contain ethically and sustainably sourced coffee with the added bonus that they are easy to recycle, The three different roasts ensure that all tastes are catered for. Think Christmas songs: the Light Roast resonates with ‘Away in a Manger’ – gentle and easy on the senses; Medium Roast (my favourite) is more ‘Once in Royal David’s City’ – smooth yet rousing; Dark Roast is ‘Fairytale of New York’ – it packs a punch with earthy tones.

When you choose Fairtrade coffee, not only can farmers build a better quality of life for their families and communities, they can invest in growing better quality beans too.

Choose Fairtrade coffee and you’re also supporting farmers to fight the challenges they may face. These include the effects of a changing climate, low and unpredictable incomes and in some coffee growing communities, there may not be enough food available for three to four months a year. https://www.fairtrade.org.uk/buying-fairtrade/coffee/
