It has come to our attention that some local children in Bridge of Don – none in this school as far as we know – are using a social media app called Houseparty where users can face-time each other in groups and one to one. It has come to light that some of the users online are adults and there have been concerns about the motivation for these older people wanting to contact young people.
The police are aware of the situation.
I would urge you to be vigilant in checking your son/daughter’s devices for inappropriate use and activity and also to keep talking through the dangers of social media especially when being asked for personal information or other inappropriate content. Our children should not be doing anything online that you would not be happy to see. They should also know that if they have concerns about any activity they should discuss that with you.
