On Thursday 6th October at the 23rd annual Aberdeen Sports Award, Bridge of Don Academy were nominated for the award of ‘Secondary school of the year’ along with the winner from the previous year, Hazlehead Academy. During the evening, six pupils from Bridge of Don were accompanied to the AECC by PE staff and Sam Main (our Active Schools Coordinator) for a drinks reception followed by a lavish two course meal.
Following introductions from the Lord Provost and the head of SportScotland, the awards began, with Bridge of Don Academy winning the award of Secondary School of the Year. All six pupils were invited on stage to collect the award from Fred Dalgarno, and were interviewed in front of the 300 strong audience. Following receiving the award, pupils were taken for photographs and interviews with the local media.
All PE and SMT at Bridge of Don Academy are delighted with the award and look forward to continuing the success in 2017.
