As part of our Book Week Scotland celebrations we asked staff to display an “I Am Currently Reading…” poster on their classroom door. We had fantastic support with this showing what a wide range of material our staff read, but with thrillers being the out and out favourite genre.
We also distributed copies of Journeys (Scottish Book Trust’s free book) to S6 pupils and all staff.
We ran a “Shelfie” competition which involved asking pupils to match up photos of bookshelves to members of staff. This proved rather more difficult than we had envisaged. The fact that teachers read books not associated with their subject, seemed to throw pupils but hopefully it proved enlightening!
We rounded off the week with a book quiz. Teams of S1 and S2 pupils battled to become the BODA Big Quiz champions.
