S3 Parents’ Consultation Evening 2014

A reminder that the S3 Parents’ Evening is on Tuesday 4 November from 5 pm – 7.30 pm.  Pupils were given a letter at the end of term with key information.  If you did not receive a copy of this letter please find information below for your reference.  Please note the evening is on Tuesday NOT Thursday.

S3 Parents’ Consultation Evening 2014

The S3 Parents’ Consultation Evening for Session 2014/2015 takes place on Tuesday 4 November, from 5.00pm until 7.30pm.  We operate an appointments system, as we do with all of our Parents’ Consultation Evenings in school, with the Assembly Room and Canteen used for the discussions.  You will be issued with a rooming plan on the evening itself when you sign in at the main entrance or community entrance.

Pupils will be given an appointment sheet this week in assembly and will be asked to make appointments with the subject teachers you would like to meet on Parents’ Evening.  They should take this sheet to each teacher who will then enter the exact time of the appointment.  Appointments will be strictly limited to five minutes to enable staff to see as many parents as possible. If as a result of special difficulties a five-minute appointment is inadequate, or if for any reason a particular member of staff is unavailable, we can make special arrangements for you to meet those teachers at a later date during the school day.  There will be seats to wait and tea and coffee available for a small donation to the school fund.  Please ensure that you sign out before you leave.

Please note that this is the only Parents’ Consultation Evening for S3.  It gives you the chance to discuss your son’s or daughter’s progress in their subjects, homework and coursework and also an opportunity to discuss how you can best support them in their study programme at home.  With the introduction of the new curriculum, pupils are being given the chance to study at National 4 and 5 levels, this evening allows you to find out further information and ask any questions that you may have.  It is vital that your son or daughter works to the best of their ability and considers their choices carefully to allow them to progress with the next step of their education.  There will be a Parents’ Information Evening on 19 February 2015 which will give you further information about course choice procedures.  We also have a Careers Evening on Tuesday 24 February which we would encourage our young people to attend.

We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 4 November.
