BoDA visits Antarctica (kind of)!

Bridge of Don Academy pupils celebrated Antarctica Day, held on 1st December, by taking part in the Antarctica Day Flag competition. To do this the class listened to a presentation about Antarctica and the Antarctic Treaty before designing a new flag which could be used to celebrate Antarctica Day. One flag design was chosen to represent the school and was taken by a scientist to Antarctica. Well done to Naima Timmermans whose fantastic design was chosen. We have just found out that Naima’s flag was taken to Antarctica by Neil Brims. Neil is an Electrician at BAS and volunteered to take Naima’s Flag to the Halley Research Station. Neil has visited Antarctica on multiple occasions and has written a blog post about his experiences; https://www.bas.ac.uk/blogpost/blog-happy-at-halley/

There is something quite amazing to know that something produced by a BoDA pupil has been taken all the way to Antarctica!
