On Thursday our Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) team completed their training. After the October holiday they will be delivering the programme to pupils in Bridge of Don Academy and primary schools within Aberdeen.
The MVP programme has the rights of children at its heart. It is “a peer mentoring programme that gives young people the chance to explore and challenge the attitudes, beliefs and cultural norms that underpin gender-based violence, bullying and other forms of violence”. (Education Scotland)
As part of their role, our MVPs will be designing a programme to deliver throughout the school which covers topics such as name-calling, sexting, controlling behaviour and harassment. The programme aims to empower young people to be active bystanders with the ability to support and challenge their peers in a safe way.
